2025 PACKAGING DESIGN

After Hours is a designer adult party favor company built to cater to the craziest of nights, and the roughest of mornings. Designed with attitude and style, each box is a curated experience.

  • When ideating my brand, After Hours, I knew that my final product would have to exude a playful and cheeky emotion and have a keepsake quality through its design. To create an adult party favor brand, I needed to differentiate myself from the typical cheap and single-use adult party favors we see. I wanted each box to give the buyer everything they wanted and needed for that night’s trajectory. I am very pleased with the result of this project. From my initial nerves of creating something from scratch, I believe that choosing such a niche topic allowed me to really follow my gut on design choices. This project allowed me to really express my creativity, and push boundaries when making bold choices.

When I came across the Finesse Type, I was really drawn to its ridiculous design, a typeface filled with butts seemed like the destined cheekiness I was looking for. Although I enjoyed its original design, it didn’t make sense for each of the box's individual vibe. I then took each of the box's names, High Life, Oops! Again, and Doll Drama and brought them into a drawing software where I reworked each letter to resemble the box’s contents. For example, with our smoker's box, High Life, I drew a bong, weed underwear, lighters, joints etc.

After deciding to continue with this idea, I was very excited to see how each of the titles started designing for themselves. I chose to differentiate the boxes further by electing a color for each one. I was immediately very pleased how they all looked but struggled with how to pair such a bold intricate typeface with any other type or graphic. I decided that to have the typeface speak for itself and be the primary focus of the boxes, I paired it with a neo-humanist sans-serif font with a modern script feel (Gyst Variable) for all copy and a curvaceous fat-face font (Blenny Thai Variable) for my logo and tagline. Although Gyst and Blenny are very powerful on their own, they add an elegant and dramatic flair to the rest of the box. For the composition of the rest of my box, I decided to alternate between a cream and whatever color was used on box’s name’s color.
